How BookTropics makes money
No hidden agenda, no fine print buried on page nine. Here's exactly how the links on this site work, what we earn, and why it never costs you a cent more.

The short version
Many links on BookTropics are affiliate links. If you book through one, the partner pays us a small commission. Your price stays exactly the same — the commission comes out of the partner's margin, not your wallet. That commission is what keeps this site free and lets us keep writing island guides instead of selling ads.
The basics
What an affiliate link actually is
An affiliate link is a normal link with a tracking tag attached. When you click one of ours and go on to book something, the partner's system recognises that BookTropics sent you and credits us a commission on that booking.
That's the whole mechanism. You're booking directly with the provider — Booking.com, GetYourGuide, Tripadvisor and the rest — exactly as if you'd typed their address into your browser yourself. Same site, same checkout, same price, same customer service.

A resort in Curaçao, a catamaran day in Mauritius, a rental car in Aruba — listed here with real prices and real ratings.
You tap through to the partner
The link takes you to the partner's own website. From that moment you're their customer, under their terms and their privacy policy.
They pay us, not you
If you book, the partner shares a small slice of their own commission with us. Nothing is added to your bill. Nothing changes for you.

Where we draw the line
How we choose what to recommend
Commission is how we get paid. It is not how we decide what goes on the page. These are the rules we hold ourselves to:
Recommendations first, commission second. If the better option pays us less — or nothing — it still goes on the page, and we'll say why we prefer it.
Local knowledge decides. Our island guides and itineraries are written from experience on the ground, then we attach booking links to them — never the other way round.
Prices and ratings come from the partner. We display what they publish, and we don't hide a poor rating because a listing pays well.
No pay-to-rank. A company cannot buy a spot, a badge or a kind word on this site.
We tell you when we're unsure. If we haven't personally tried something, we say so rather than dressing it up.
